This particular 1998 300Tdi Defender 110 was imported out of Valencia, Spain and only has 135,618 miles on the clock. This original European 110 has a very nice and dry chassis. The bulkhead is very dry, but its cross member suffers from a bit of rust on the right rear outer corner which has been painted over. Behind the cross member, and on the rear of the chassis there is no rust. The chassis is very solid except for this spot. The chassis has not been painted, or coated so everything is visible showing only superficial rust. The driver side front floor board is very dry but the passenger side floorboard does have rust holes which i believe has something to do with a bad AC drain which we did take care of. The 4 main doors on this rig are dry with no rust holes but the rear was patched on the bottom and patched badly. The door itself is solid! we had to pull the panel to replace the wiper motor and its been reinforced to carry the weight of its spare tire. Its paint still has a nice shine but there are touch ups, resprays and battle wounds. There are also dents and dings in various different locations but that's to be expected for a defender of this age. The roof has a nice sized dent which you can see in the photos. The front wing tops are solid and not caved in at all! The vents operate perfectly and have absolutely zero rust behind them. This truck has Factory Air-conditioning which has been serviced and blows ice cold.
The interior of this 110 needs some love. The front passenger seat has some fray and tears where the rears are in good shape. The dashboard, and headliner are in good overall condition. The door panels need to be reupholstered or replaced. The under-dash AC unit functions as it should, and all vents are intact. The cargo area of this defender was used for what it was intended for and shows wear and aluminum corrosion. Over the rear interior tubs, you will find chassis braces. The headliner is clean and original. The interior does need work but is fully functional.
This defender runs and drives great. The 300TDI fires right up and the Garett turbo spools up and pulls very well. The R380 gearbox shifts crisply through all the gears and the center locking diff functions just fine. The steering and suspension are booth smooth and have no knocks or bumps when driving. When looking under the hood you will see no chassis, bulkhead, or firewall rust. It has your typical rear window rattles. Overall, this is one solid defender and is a conversation piece wherever you go.
She's not a show car but is an absolute perfect candidate for someone wanting extremely strong bones for a restoration or can be daily driven just fine as is! it's nice not having to worry about door dings and whatnot. Either or whatever your plan is this is one nice original Rig!

Why is your Jeep right hand drive? Why does it look like an FJ40, and a Willys had a baby? and why is there Mitsubishi logo on it? These are some of the few questions asked when driving this J20c around town. Mitsubishi Jeeps in general have a very neat history. A few years after WWII, Mitsubishi secured rights to continue building the CJ3B Willys under their own name. Here in the USA the Willys were in production up until 1965, but in Japan they were built up until 1998. This particular j20c is specific to Mitsubishi and was never seen on its American CJ3b brother. There are an estimated 7-10 J20c's currently in America.
For a 52 year old jeep its in great condition. The original two tone paint has some touch up marks, and battle wounds but is in overall good shape for the age. The body of this j20c is in great shape for its age with a few bumps and bruises throughout the body. When sitting behind the wheel of this J20 it feels as if you are piloting nostalgic warbird. The only thing missing would be a "remove before flight" ribbon. Everything you need is right there at your finger tips. The wipers, headlights, blower motor speed, and heater controls all add to its warbird type feel. The gauges in the jeep all work as they were designed to do so. The seats are in great shape with no rips, or tears. The dash, and metal components show some age, and oxidation only adding to its very cool Japanese history. The only modifications done to this J20C are its Micky Thompson wheels, km2 tires, rear fender flares and side steps.
There is something about simple mechanics that get to me, there are no computers, which mean there will be no problems. This J20c runs like a bat out of hell . The JH4 Petrol engine fires right up, and idles just fine with zero issues. This is a column shift rig but its very easy to get used too. If you have driven a CJ3B Willys, or an older CJ you probably noticed the sloppy steering characteristics. That is not the case for this Mitsubishi, everything is tight and smooth. Its an absolute blast to drive, and if your not grinning from ear to ear while hauling ass around town you may need to get yourself checked out. The J20c rides good considering its a short wheel base rig, and its not as bouncy as you would think. Everything is smooth on this J20c, and works just fine. The transmission is very healthy, and shifts are extremely crisp. You will Catch yourself smiling when shifting through the gears. Since I've owned it we've replaced the brake booster, brake master cylinder, and brake slave cylinder. All with parts found at Oreillys and Ebay! The brake master cylinder was identical to a CJ3b! so parts availability isn't as difficult as it would seam. in conclusion this is such a cool rig and standing out from the rest of the crowd is an understatement. You will be the center of attention at every car show, or jeep meet you decide to attend.
